Renee specializes in oil painting and graphite drawings of family pets. A South Florida resident since 1998, Renee has found that the popularity of pet portraiture is growing in pace with the billion dollar pet product industry. Renee is well-known in the New Jersey/New York metropolitan area for her portraiture of children, families, and pets. “When a pet owner wants to memorialize the love they have for their pet, I capture the unique personality of their dog or cat in a beautiful oil painting that will be treasured for generations.” An animal lover, Plevy began painting pets as a favor to friends. A glance at her website, www.reneeplevy.com, tells the story in pictures and reflects how the pet’s personality shines through in every portrait. Portraits of children and families are an integral part of her work. She is especially fond of an oil portrait she painted of former New York City Mayor Ed Koch. A lifelong artist, Plevy studied under several nationally known portrait artists in NYC and has taught portraiture at the acclaimed NYC School of Visual Arts from which she graduated. She studied at The Parsons School of Design and The Art Student’s League, both in NYC. She is a graduate of Boston University with a degree in Education. Renee was awarded “Artist of the Year” from the prestigious Bloomfield Art League. She has had a one woman museum show as well as showing in a multitude of galleries, shows and private collections nationwide.
